How I can be sure that we will be able to read a .docx file in 100 years? I have a large collection of documents on my hd. I want them to be readable and accessible for the near future (10 years), but if possible, up to 100 years!

Which format would be advisable?

I think Office will always be the default "open with" program for those kinds of files, even if they change the file extension. docx is the newer version of .doc, so go with .docx
