#1 How do I change my username?


Members in good standing are afforded a one-time username change. To request this change please use the Contact form.

Additional username changes can be purchased here.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Once changed, all prior posts will reflect new username.
  • Once changed, you will need to login using the new username.
  • Usernames must be between 3 and 15 characters (no spaces), and comprised of letters, numbers, hyphens, and/or underscores.

 

#2 How do I report a rules/policy violation?


Clicking a "Report" link will alert staff to any problematic thread or post. If you believe there has been a violation of LanceBase rules or policies, we invite you to report this information to our moderation team for investigation.

If a post needs immediate attention, the report system is the correct way to alert staff. Reporting a post is done by clicking on the Report link located at the bottom of each post. Clicking this link will produce a simple report form.

From here, you can generate a report to send to our moderation team for review. Include as much verifiable information as possible in the Report Reason field before submitting. Please use the following format:

Non-post violations should be reported via Contact form using the same format.

If staff determines a violation has occurred, a suspension will be issued to the associated account(s). Note: Abuse of the Report system constitutes a violation of our Terms of Use.

#3 What are the forum rules?

#4 Are there any new user restrictions? Why can't I post a link?


With the exception of Supporters and Advertisers, new members can include links in text, only after having made 2 posts. Further, using words/phrases historically associated with spam may result in a post being rejected.

 

#5 Is there an online status timeout?


After a user interacts with the system (by clicking a link etc.) they will be considered "online". They will be considered to be offline if they do not interact with the system for 15 minutes.

 

#6 What are the different member ranks? How does the banner ladder work?


At LanceBase, member Banners are stackable and describe rank. With Supporter accounts, a member's current element banner will display directly below their supporter banner.

Banner groups/hierarchy:

  • Staff (appointed)
  • Supporter (purchased)
  • Elements (achieved)

Note: Promotions are updated hourly (for logged in/active users), they are not instant.

 

#7 How and when are user and post counts updated?


The global user and post counts are updated every 10 minutes.

 

#8 How long do I need to wait between posts?


Non-Supporter: 15 seconds
Supporter: No restriction

 

#9 Can I use HTML in posts or signatures?


HTML is not supported in posts or signatures; BBCode only.

#11 Will I ever stop receiving "watched content" alerts?


Watched content alerts and emails will only be sent to users who have visited within 180 days. Meaning members will stop receiving "watched content" alerts after 180 days of inactivity.

 

#12 I registered successfully, but never received a confirmation email. What should I do?


Upon successful Registration at LanceBase.com, you will receive a confirmation email containing an activation link. You must click this link in order to activate your account and complete the registration process.

If you're having trouble finding the confirmation email in your Inbox, please try the following:

  1. Check your Spam, Junk, Trash, Deleted Items, and Archive folders.
  2. While logged in, re-send the Confirmation Email.
  3. Make sure the provided email address is free of typos here.
  4. Make sure you're checking the correct email account.
  5. Examine your e-mail account settings. Try adding support(@)lancebase.com to your address book.
  6. Make sure you're able to receive email from other senders.

#13 How do I edit or delete a post?


For non-Supporter accounts, new posts may be edited or deleted for a period of 15 minutes. Please take care not to edit posts in a way that interferes with a discussion.

Editing or deleting a post is done by clicking on the Edit or Delete link located at the bottom of each post.

#14 How can I find (and share) the direct link to a specific post?


A Permalink (portmanteau of permanent link) is a URL that points to a specific forum post. Click a post's Share icon or Number symbol (#).

#15 How long are personal conversations stored in my inbox?


Personal Conversations are not stored indefinitely. Conversations without a new reply are deleted after 4 months. (12 months for Supporter members)
